A while ago we posted the teaser/cover art for Sonic and the True King - Before the Fall, featuring a mysterious shadowy figure. Now, we do read your tags and comments and most of you were with no doubts convinced you were looking at the silhouette of Shadow the Hedgehog.
But you weren’t. Not quite, anyway.
Meet: Alam, the shadow of Babylon!
He is a former incarnation of Shadow the Hedgehog, yes. But he is still quite a different character. First and foremostly because his past is quite different to Shadow’s. Nobody really knows a lot about his past, as he’s very secretive about it. Nobody can say where he came from but there are rumors about him seizing total control of Babylon’s underworld in a single night.
By night he runs a network of spies, possibly even assassins. His currency is Information. If something happens in Babylon, Alam is the first to know. The first to ask. But you will not get information from him for free. There is always a price.
By daylight he runs the “Sun’s End”, a guesthouse and tavern located on the central market of Babylon’s lower district.
Of course he doesn’t run the place alone, though. Prepare to see some more familiar, and yet different faces in the Demo.
Babylon 3000 BC - LORE

Babylon was the capital of the biggest, richest empire in all of Mobius, thousands of years ago. The city was widely known for its riches, its architecture, its advanced technology. Naturally many people wanted a part of that life. So they began flocking towards the ever growing city.
As it goes when many people come to the same city with high hopes and dreams, some ended up being disappointed. Some arrived too late. Some ended up on the streets. The City of Babylon was split into districts of different political importance and standing.
Imagine you’re an immigrant. You enter the city over a bridge towards a blue gate, bigger and more pompous than anything you’ve ever seen. But behind the gate you don’t find a comfy home and a pile of golden coins. You find a road with many doors that are locked to you. The first gate is the only one you may pass. It leads to the commoners district. A place where people work hard for their daily bread, but most are happy nontheless. Houses are so close to each other that some alleyways are hardly even wide enough to accommodate more than one person walking through them. All you see are windows, hardly ever doors. The entrances of the buildings face away from the busy street to give the residents privacy. Houses have small courtyards that connect 2 - 4 houses with each other. Neighbours cook and chat together in the courtyard. They play board games. Children play. And when night falls everyone returns into their bedrooms. Some have even taken to living on their roofs in summer.
It’s a simple life but not a bad one.
Hidden in the shadows of the crowded commoners district however are the slums. I don’t need to explain to you what the slums are. The poor. The sick. Thieves. Murderers. The abandoned. A place almost devoid of hope.
The only thing people from these two districts have in common is their hope to one day cross the river that splits the great city in two halves.
Because on the other side lies their promised land.
The University district. - Reserved for those who have the funds and status to study languages, architecture or the arts.
The Royal district. - Reserved for the Royal Family and their staff.
The Temple district. - Reserved for the priestesses and their staff. Lead by the most beloved mortal figure in all of Babylon. The high Priestess Anatu. Which brings me to point two of this lore post:

Now it was no mistake of mine, or an attempt for a cool segway into the religion topic that I placed “Royal district” beneath “Temple district”. In fact these were sorted by their political importance.
That’s right. Babylon my be ruled by a King and his Queen. But even the King is bound to listen to the words of the High Priestess as she is the voice of the gods and thus the most powerful mortal woman in the Empire of Babylon:
Meet the high priestess Anatu:

Above her are only the Anunnaki themselves. The Gods that travelled from the stars and founded the city of Babylon.
As the high priestess she first and foremostly serves the highest of their gods who embodies the sun. You will see the flower-like symbol on her palms and her brooch. That is the god’s symbol. It represents the sun. It’s one of the symbols you will encounter quite frequently in the city. But he is not the only god.
There are three others.
Ellil who is the counsellor of the sun.
Ninurta who is the sun’s chamberlain.
and Ennugi who controls the canal.
The Sun god and his chamberlain reside in the palace on the hanging gardens, the floating island that powers the city.
OC Announcement Post
The time has come everybody! I know you’ve all been waiting for this moment. And I know you’re probably excited. But I would like to say beforehand that we got submitted almost 80 OCs. And we loved every single one of them. They were all incredible and fantastic and even if your OC is not chosen that does not mean that they’re bad. Deciding on OCs was so incredibly hard because there were only hardly a handful that didn’t fit into the game at all or that were wrongly submitted UoU But alas we had to pick and choose a select few.
I would like to sincerely thank you all for support and your enthusiasm along the way. I’m looking forward to getting to draw all your beautiful characters throughout next year. <3 And I’m more than excited for the ones that’ll already be in the demo. It’ll give the rest of you chosen ones an idea what to expect <3

Sattk - Before the Fall Location WIPs
Here’s a collection of very early WIPs of the Demo’s locations :3
Such as a Market place buzzing with life (not in the WIP though) and also a background that is going to have a few of your OCs faces in it <3

And what is a Market without some dark shady alleyway UwU

Do you see the building to the left on the market? The one with the window in the door and the sign? That’s the “Sun’s End” guesthouse which is an important location for you <3 And once again a place where you might find some of your OCs <3

And last but not least two more backgrounds that I won’t say much about UwU

There is going to be a few more backgrounds to come but I don’t want to spoil everything <3
Aaaand here’s our last boy!!! (Well last of the first 6 out of 13 main characters anyway)
Knuckles represents “Courage” in Sattk.
This is a post talking about the Setting of Sattk - Before the Fall (the tech demo)

The plot of the tech demo and the source of the evil you fight in the main game both lie within the confines of the glorious city of Babylon. Thousands of years before Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends fight their ongoing battle against Eggman.
In fact the 3000 BC in the header image refers to 3000 years before the Chaos incident wiped out nearly the entirety of the Echidnas.
In a time that long most of Babylon’s history was destroyed of lost. But fact is it was once the capital of the greatest empire in all of Mobius. It was founded by travellers who came from the stars in search of a new homeworld and riches. Their technology was so far advanced compared to that of the ancient mobians that they were readily accepted as deities. What they really were, no one knows. Maybe they were gods or maybe they were mortals from another world.
Their technology anyway made Babylon the great city it was. They were capable of harvesting the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity. Powering the entire city and a wide array of weapons with unrivalled destructive force. Suddenly mobians were able to travel the skies, have electric light during the dark hours, and create moving and thinking creatures out of mere rocks.
This glorious and magical city is yours to explore (to a point) in the demo.

Now I’m sure you noticed that Sattk’s Babylon does not exactly match to 100% with the Babylon in the official Sonic games.
We’re deliberately taking some liberties here. We’re for example completely ignoring the whole “We’re descendants of real Genies” part of Sonic Riders canon. There’s no Genies happening in Sattk. However the hanging gardens of Babylon are still a space ship,a powerplant and a weapon. We’ve redesigned the thing a little but it’s still close enough to its appearance in the Riders games.
We’ve also taken some liberty with Babylon’s energy source. In canon the hanging gardens are powered by an artificial black hole. In Sattk the black hole engine is still a thing but it lies dormant and is only used for space travel or to transform the gardens into a weapon. The main energy source which the city of Babylon uses to power the whole city are the sun sails attached to the gardens.
They resemble wings or feathers but really they’re translucent solar panels harvesting the sun’s energy directly and without being in danger of lethal instabilities.
All in all we wanted to stick close to the human Babylonians in this sense because they worshipped the sun above all else. Their symbol of the sun is synonymous with their highest god. Thus, we decided to make the sun a crucial element in every aspect of the game.
Let us know what you think about all this.
Here’s our youngest boi! Still a badass though just like the other heroes!

Sonic and the True King - Sonic’s Theme
It’s the middle of the week! So here’s the second custom piece of music Cleffy created for us! It’s a fantastic Sonic nostalgia medley and I’m not gonna lie I’ve been listening to this on repeat while drawing for the game. It will serve as Sonic’s own theme song and the Green Hill Zone theme. I cannot stress enough how much I’m personally in love with this song.
Please check out Cleffy’s youtube channel and their tumblr blogs @doublecleffmod or @doublecleffmusic and give them some love!
