Are you scared yet?
Well you should be! For the spookiest day of the year we have something very scary to talk about!
Sonic and the true king’s bad endings.
We
aim to make a game that can be played by as many people as possible,
but unfortunately… Sattk is not necessarily suitable for the youngest
of us. So the game is going to be for teen and up audiences. Why?
Because YOU
are not the only one who can die in the game. In fact… with some
wrong decisions… you can doom absolutely everyone. Not just the
heroes. But regular people as well. Even Eggman!
And while not ALL bad endings are apocalyptic, they are all unforgiving.

Alright,
now, don’t be -too- scared. Sattk is not going to inclued heavy gore or
anything of the kind. There’s gonna be blood but not more than in any
teen and up audiences movie or other videogames. So don’t worry too
much.
And of course, this is a visual novel, so you will always be able to save and load and try again <3
Still it’s advised to make your choices carefully……. after all, the fate of Mobius depends on it!
Also…. who… is this in the picture?
What happened?

WELCOME TO GREEN HILL ZONE
Since we’ve shown you some character art now, we figured, you’d be interested in the look of the world. And as a loving homage to all the Sonic games we love, we’ve decided the first you should see is the Green Hill Zone.
Now, this background differs from the other Game Backgrounds in a way. Usually when making environmental art there should be a ‘path’ of some sort leading the viewer into the picture as if you opened a door and looked into a painted world. It should ideally give you the feeling that you can just take a step and you’ll be inside the drawing.
However with the Green Hill Zone we wanted to stay true to the side-scrolling platformer aesthetic, so all paths in this drawing lead from the left to the right, instead of INTO the picture.
If you want to use this image as a Desktop screensaver or just download it to have a closer look at details;

The poll has spoken.
You want to see our favourite green chicken hawk.
From today on you will get one character of the main six every friday. Next in line is everyone’s favourite Edgehog.
Jet represents Memory in Sattk
Now that we’re getting all these lovely OCs from you (and boy, oh boy, are we LOVING your OCs \*O*/), we want to share some official art as well.
Aside from you, the Protagonist, the game has a total of 13 main characters, 6 of which we want to share with you.
These 6 are of course:
Sonic
Tails
Knuckles
Silver
Jet
and Shadow.
You’re gonna be getting one of them every week but in which order?
We’ll let YOU decide that. The poll will end on Friday, October 26th, and on the same day we’ll upload your first favourite.

Legend of the Sky Amulet - Part 2 + Quiz
As mentioned in Part 1 of the legend the Sky Amulet is powered by six gems. These Gems are called the Sky Shards and each of them represents a trait of the god who created them. On their own the Sky Shards have little magical power, but when they are combined into the Sky Amulet even the greatest foes can be beaten.
The Six Sky Shards are:

In Sonic and the True King each Sky Shard is represented and carried by one of the first six heroes. Knuckles, Jet, Shadow, Tails, Silver and Sonic. Can you guess which gem corresponds with which hero?
And more importantly, would you like to find out which Sky Shard represents YOU?

Well wonder no more! Because we’ve created a personality test for you, to find out which Shard would be yours. Until then keep guessing which hero goes with which gem. We’re going to post the solution on Friday!

SATTK is recruiting OCs
The world of mobius is a big one. And your adventures will take you to the far corners of the world, undoubtedly meeting many people.
A world that big needs it’s denizens.
Does your OC live on Mobius? Then we want to see them!
Here is a list of roles to fill. If your OC happens to fit one or several of them, then feel free to read the rules beneath the cut and apply. <3

We’re casting:
- 10 x female villager (age does not matter)
- 10 x male villager (age does not matter)
- 3 x Bar visitor (must be of legal drinking age)
- 2 x Eggman Staff
- 2 x Rich folks (any gender, but must be adults)
- 3 x Butler/Maids (any gender, but must be adults)

Read more for the application rules.
Please note that we can only consider OCs that have been submitted to us correctly.
And lastly: If you do not have an OC yourself, please help us by reblogging this post so more people can see it <3 ~ Thank you.

Now, I just want this to be known. Please for the love of all that is holy, make sure that choices matter. The last time the sonic franchise and karmic gameplay came together it end well. <I am plays in the background>

I fully understand your concern. And you’re right. Making choices count is not always as easy as it sounds. But I’m glad you brought it up and I want to be as honest as I can without being spoilery.
I feel like with Sonic and the True King, I found a decent middle ground between linear gameplay and important choices. The game is split into five parts:
The introduction
The first act
The transition
The second act
The endings
Up until the second act you can encounter dead ends (literally). Your only real options are to fail or to succeed. Though choices will matter more during fights. But I’m making a post explaining the fighting system later so I don’t want to take that away now <3
But there is also a third value that’s being counted into play from the very beginning. And that’s the Trust meter. Since you’re an Eggman scientist the heroes don’t initially trust you and all your choices matter in so far that you can gain or lose trust up until the transition part of the game. However well you did will then have a significant effect on what happens in act 2. Failing to do certain things in act 1 will permanently lock you out of doing certain things in act 2. And in the second act your choices matter a whole lot more.
So far I have three main endings written, and 6 minor ones. But I will add more if I can think of some.
Either way the point is, the game is pretty linear up until half point. And then things begin to change noticably based on how well you did in act 1 and on the choices you make in act 2.

Meet… YOU

You are not a hero.
You are a scientist in service for doctor Eggman.

Maybe you joined the doctor because you had someone to protect, or maybe you are actually on the doctor’s side.
Either way, the job you signed up for was to sit in your little laboratory, dating rocks and deciphering ancient texts. It wasn’t your job to ask questions nor was it your job to worry about morals.
But everything changed, on that fateful day, when the mining crew, at the digsite you called your workplace… dug a little too deep. They found what the doctor was searching for. And you… you are the only one who made it out alive.
Now it’s time to pick a side. It’s time to define yourself, and your role in the terrible events that are surely about to come.

Why did you choose sonic, shadow, silver, knuckle, tails and jet as the cover of “sonic and the true king

The simple answer is: Because they are the 6 main characters of Act 1. There is another 7 main characters in the game, but I couldn’t use them for the cover as they’re exclusive to the Game’s Act 2. And everything in Act 2 is massive spoilers.
I was debating to put the Protagonist, aka. the player character, onto the cover image but, in all honesty… I couldn’t work out how to make it look nice, considering the Protagonist is an anonymous character.
You’ll see more of the Protagonist on Monday <3

2 questions: How far are you into the project, and what visual novel engine are you using?

To question 1:
To make it simple I’ll give you rough percentages.
The writing is about 80% done.
The art about 5%
The animations 20%
The Music 80%
The UI 20%
And the testing of game mechanics is about 40% done <3
So while the project is well underway there is still lots to do, especially on the art front. If I can manage it I would love to release the full game in about one year from now, after the Sonic movie comes out. How realistic that is, however, I have no idea. After all this is a non-profit hobby project, and no matter how much love I put into it I still have to earn money with my normal job on the side. I can only promise to do my best!
To question2:
I’m using Degica’s “Visual Novel Maker”
Degica is also the company who made RPG Maker, so you might know them. I’ve decided on this engine after testing out several others, and found Visual Novel Maker the best suited for my project. It’s definitely got its problems, as it’s still under development, but it’s easy to use and allows you to customize just about EVERYTHING without much trouble. Like making custom menu screens, or adding menus, mini games etc. It also comes with a huge Help library that teaches you step by step how to use everything, and the community is very active, so it’s easy to find answers to your questions online even if the software is still relatively new.
