Hello, and tanks. Everything looks si nice and very well done ! The illustration, the concepts, even the chibis ! But I'm not here to praise your talents all day, so here's my question : In the recent Babylonian post, you mention "people from the stars" ( I don't read and comics, and the Sonic Riders games are a little far for me ) and since there's the "Hanging Garden" ... There's only one thing I can think of : Will the Seedrians be mentioned? (obviously not Cosmo)
The whole Sonic franchise deals a lot with beings from outter space. Take the Wisps, Seedrians and Black arms. Just like them according to Sonic canon the early ancestors of the Babylon Rogues came from space. And because that’s also how the actual real world Babylonians described their own gods, we’re picking that part of lore up >W<
So technically, saying that the ancient Babylonians are canon, also makes all the other alien races like seedrians or black arms canon. BUT. I don’t think we’re going to go too deep into other alien races in the game UwU
If people are interested in knowing I might make a post in the future about the sattk babylonian religion though, explaining some more about the ‘gods’.

Also, on another note, because this has been bothering me for so long! ... what do you do if you have original characters but no drawing of them yet? I... write fan fics first and foremost; I don't usually draw, so... most of the drawings I have of the characters are not even half-finished sketches... ;^;
I assume this is about submitting OCs to the game? OwO In that case you can always commission an artist to draw your OC or finish one of the half finished drawings UwU There’s even some artists on tumblr who take requests!~
We do unfortunately need a picture reference though so we don’t make any mistakes in the design as it can’t be changed later. And of course we’d want your OC to look the way you imagined them in the game.
But yes, as I said there are options to get someone else to draw your oc.
This is a post talking about the Setting of Sattk - Before the Fall (the tech demo)
The plot of the tech demo and the source of the evil you fight in the main game both lie within the confines of the glorious city of Babylon. Thousands of years before Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends fight their ongoing battle against Eggman.
In fact the 3000 BC in the header image refers to 3000 years before the Chaos incident wiped out nearly the entirety of the Echidnas.
In a time that long most of Babylon’s history was destroyed of lost. But fact is it was once the capital of the greatest empire in all of Mobius. It was founded by travellers who came from the stars in search of a new homeworld and riches. Their technology was so far advanced compared to that of the ancient mobians that they were readily accepted as deities. What they really were, no one knows. Maybe they were gods or maybe they were mortals from another world.
Their technology anyway made Babylon the great city it was. They were capable of harvesting the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity. Powering the entire city and a wide array of weapons with unrivalled destructive force. Suddenly mobians were able to travel the skies, have electric light during the dark hours, and create moving and thinking creatures out of mere rocks.
This glorious and magical city is yours to explore (to a point) in the demo.
Now I’m sure you noticed that Sattk’s Babylon does not exactly match to 100% with the Babylon in the official Sonic games.
We’re deliberately taking some liberties here. We’re for example completely ignoring the whole “We’re descendants of real Genies” part of Sonic Riders canon. There’s no Genies happening in Sattk. However the hanging gardens of Babylon are still a space ship,a powerplant and a weapon. We’ve redesigned the thing a little but it’s still close enough to its appearance in the Riders games.
We’ve also taken some liberty with Babylon’s energy source. In canon the hanging gardens are powered by an artificial black hole. In Sattk the black hole engine is still a thing but it lies dormant and is only used for space travel or to transform the gardens into a weapon. The main energy source which the city of Babylon uses to power the whole city are the sun sails attached to the gardens. They resemble wings or feathers but really they’re translucent solar panels harvesting the sun’s energy directly and without being in danger of lethal instabilities.
All in all we wanted to stick close to the human Babylonians in this sense because they worshipped the sun above all else. Their symbol of the sun is synonymous with their highest god. Thus, we decided to make the sun a crucial element in every aspect of the game.
Let us know what you think about all this.
Can I just take a moment to say how ABSOLUTELY EXCITED I am about this? Babylonian lore and history is one of those things the series always touched up on just enough to get you hooked, but left vague or ignored enough to leave you wanting a lot more from the games, and other media never even remotely did them justice (I’m looking at you, Archie. >:| )
And this just seems to be everything I wanted, even if it’s from a fan perspective, reading these blog posts over the past month or so has shown how much care and attention has been put into this, especially when it comes to making use of the parallels between Sonic’s Babylonians and real-life Babylonians and expanding upon that.
I love this. I absolutely love this. I’m all kinds of giddy to see the completed product, and I highly recommend anyone reading this keep an eye on this fangame as well.
Reblogging this again because this comment made me really happy OwO!!! We can all agree Archie’s take on the rogues and their history was uhm… a bit flawed at best. I have a personal problem with how they portrayed Jet specifically. But that’s besides the point.
I’m just really really happy you’re enjoying what you’re seeing so far and your support, excitement and curiostiy means SO much to me/us. I’m really looking forward to reading your thoughts on seeing and experiencing Babylon in the demo when that’s out next year. (Next year still sounds so far away doesn’t it… but it’s so close oh boy~)
Also your headcanons in the tags are all awesome!!!!

The concept for this game has my full attention. There's not a single thing that's been discussed so far that doesn't only further my curiosity, so I'll be watching this closely for further developments. I hope you guys can resist the great burnout that comes from working on projects like this; coming from someone who's involved in another community-driven ordeal, I know how easy it can be to let that slow down happen. Hang in there guys, loving the sounds of all this so far.
Hello, Wow this means a lot ;w; Thank you so much for your curiosity and support. We’re still in a phase where we’re supre hyped to get this show on the road but being really small team with a HUGE project we have no illusions about burn out.
Especially if life in general gets in the way, like our normal day-time jobs and such. It can and will be tiring along the way. But we’ll do our very best to make sure we are consistently productive while also taking enough breaks to prevent ourselves from burning out.
That goes for you as well. Though now I’m terribly curious what project you’re working on. XD Why must you be on anon. So I can’t love and support you back.
But yes once all the chracter references are out in the open (knuckles is the last one this friday) We’ll be taking a break from consistent dev blog updates for a few weeks so we can crunch down on the Demo and do the whole mandatory christmas with our families thing. (though we’ll still be here to answer questions of course). I’ll have to make a proper announcement for that next monday with proper dates and all. But yes we’re doing our best to keep on top of everything without dying XD
We wish you the absolute best as well with your project (though I still want to know what it is, now) and hope you get rest properly as well. <3
imspectralboiii asked:
how many slots are still open for ocs?
Hello, Aside from a few that we liked too much to ignore, and the few who’re going to be in the Demo, we don’t really have all the slots filled yet. We have gotten more than enough submissions to fill them all but we’re only going to decide which characters get which roles after the submission deadline at the end of December. So aside from the few that I’ve mentioned, nothing’s written in stone yet. <3
iwtbs2005 asked:
I went back to look at the post of the sky amulet and wanted to know that is the hole in the middle a seventh sky shard or am I being paranoid or something.
The Legend only tells of 6 shards that were needed to banish the darkness. That’s all we know UwU. The hole in the middle might have a different meaning? Who knows. I can’t say for sure. ;^D
iwtbs2005 asked:
I thought of this in school and wanted to ask who/what god(s) are in the game and what is his/her/their names.
This is such a fantastic question. Let me try to answer it as best as I can without spoiling anything.
As you know the game plays on Mobius. So as far as known, canon religion goes we have the whole Chaos thing. Chaos, being a god of sorts. I figure we can also count Light and Dark Gaia to the deities.
Now we’re adding a third religion. The ancient, and long gone, babylonian religion. In which we’re completely ignoring the canon from the sonic riders games about genies and whatnot. Instead we’re leaning much closer to the -actual- ancient babylon.
Which, has a lot of gods. Well… “gods”. But trust me you’ll learn a lot about these gods and their story in the game. They are actually quite important to the plot. >W<
Unfortunately that also means I can’t tell you much more. Like their names.
