I’m glad you’re as excited as I am. I wish on a daily basis I could just yell the entire plot out into the world and show all the cool things I have planned…. but alas. We’ll all have to wait UwU
You’ll get to see the Protagonist on Monday! And relatively shortly after I’ll be revealing the rest of the main cast’s character sheets. Well. Half of the main cast.
Unfortunately everything and everyone who is exclusive to Act 2 of the story will be kept strictly under wraps until the release. So that’s a handful of main characters you’ll have to wait for until the final release. However the 6 main heroes are Sonic, Silver, Jet, Knuckles, Tails and Shadow. I’ll be posting their character sheets bit by bit sometime towards the end of this month.
Excluding the Protagonist there is a grand total of 13 major characters in this game. And a whole bunch of awesome side characters. But that being said! The characters aren’t all set yet and there is a pretty cool reason for it. I’ll make a post about that later this month as well.

To question 1:
To make it simple I’ll give you rough percentages.
The writing is about 80% done.
The art about 5%
The animations 20%
The Music 80%
The UI 20%
And the testing of game mechanics is about 40% done <3
So while the project is well underway there is still lots to do, especially on the art front. If I can manage it I would love to release the full game in about one year from now, after the Sonic movie comes out. How realistic that is, however, I have no idea. After all this is a non-profit hobby project, and no matter how much love I put into it I still have to earn money with my normal job on the side. I can only promise to do my best!
To question2:
I’m using Degica’s “Visual Novel Maker”
Degica is also the company who made RPG Maker, so you might know them. I’ve decided on this engine after testing out several others, and found Visual Novel Maker the best suited for my project. It’s definitely got its problems, as it’s still under development, but it’s easy to use and allows you to customize just about EVERYTHING without much trouble. Like making custom menu screens, or adding menus, mini games etc. It also comes with a huge Help library that teaches you step by step how to use everything, and the community is very active, so it’s easy to find answers to your questions online even if the software is still relatively new.

The main focus of the game will be on the adventure aspect of the story, but in Act 2 there will be 3 established ships between major characters, not involving the protagonist however.
One that is hidden and will require you to keep a sharp eye open to spot it.
One that is relatively obvious but in no way plot relevant.
And one that is important to the plot in a way.
There is also going to be couples amongst the NPCs you meet, like an elderly married couple in a village, or something along those lines. There is definitely going to be one NPC couple that pops up in a quest. There may be more in other, minor quests that haven’t been written yet, though.
TL;DR: You will not be able to date anyone, but there are some of the characters you meet that are already in established relationships.

To the official dev-blog for “Sonic and the True King” (Sattk), an upcoming, fan made visual novel.
Sonic and the True King plays some time after the events of Sonic Forces (ignoring the IDW storyline because this project was started before the comics came out).
Mobius is peaceful once more and people are rebuilding what was lost in the war, while Sonic and his friends from the resistance, fight the remaining Egg-troops. That is, until Silver returns with more bad news from the future he thought he saved by beating Eggman. However, it seems the doctor had another plan up his sleeve. One that lead to a future of ice and eternal darkness. A future where even Dr. Eggman, himself, had fallen victim to his own misguided plan.
In Sonic and the True King you will follow six heroes on an epic quest
to prevent the evil doctor from carrying out his plan in order to save
Mobius and the Doctor himself. Uncover an ancient Babylonian mystery and defeat the greatest evil, yet.
This time, the heroes will need help from an unlikely ally.
And maybe that ally will be you.
Or maybe not.
Such is the beauty of Visual novels. In the end… it’s your choice if you want to see the peace returned, or if you will pick an entirely different route.
The fate of Mobius lies in your hands.
